The Blaque Rose Project entertained friends, family, fans and bar patrons at Noche Blue in Levittown, a cozy and intimate venue, on April 28 with a mix of both old and new material.
The band kicked off the evening with a song that showed off both their classic rock influences as well as the incredible vocals of the group's female lead singer, Jennifer. In fact, one of the first impressions of the group is amazement as you wonder how such strong, amazing vocals can come from such a tiny girl.
The next song had a definite blues feel, an influence that could be heard in the remainder of the evening's set. Jennifer's ballsy vocals in the vein of Janis Joplin were perfect for this genre of blues-rock as she implored a boyfriend to "leave [her] or love [her.]" Some songs later in the set took on a bit of a modern, harder rock feel as well.
The band was incredibly tight, feeding off each other well. The guitarist was great, with searing solos that overtook the audience in nearly every song. The bass player was tight and on top of everything, holding the band's sound together. The drummer was incredibly energetic and really kept the band moving and excited.
The Blaque Rose Project is definitely a great live band worth checking out.
