rom the farthest reaches of the uncivilized tribes of Earth to the farthest reaches of the outer Galaxies comes the sound of Nightcrawler 1947. This Connecticut, four-piece, electronica band is inspired by tribal beats and the world at large. Close your eyes turn the stereo up, get ready to move and get taken on a wild journey.

Perpetual Toxins: Tell us the brief history of Nightcrawler 1947.

Nightcrawler 1947: We formed in the winter of the Chinese year 4701 (mysteriously discovered after we named the band). We had each recently boomeranged back to New Haven from various locations. We've all known each other for years. The music is a combination of previously unfinished songs and ideas that we each brought in, the sum whole becoming much greater than its individual parts...

PT: Who are your musical influences?

NC47: Skinny Puppy, Iggy Pop & the Stooges, early industrial and gothic bands, world tribal music, many types of electronica, too many to list...

PT: How do you describe your music to people?

NC47: Alien-electro tribal-industrial music; 'alien music'...

PT: What image do you think your music conveys?

NC47: Our goal is to achieve a new and original image based on what we're talking about in each song; we represent an alien-esque perspective to our cultural 'reality', as viewed from outside of it.

PT: Who writes the songs and what are they about?

NC47: We all write the songs. Our songs are about spreading indigenous tribes' voices, to call out those in government and religious institutions who have misled/warred secretly against the people, about lucid dreaming and the true history of the formation of this country. We write about the continued striving towards knowledge of the self and of spirit as viewed by our Elders, the Hopi, the Kogi, Tibetan Buddhism, alchemy dating back to Egypt.

PT: What inspires you to do what you do?

NC47: Viewing current reality is enough to make anyone with a heart want and need to 'DO SOMETHING', combined with the lifelong enjoyment of creating/communicating sound and message.

PT: What live performance experience have you had?

NC47: We've been playing for the past three years in and around the CT/NY/MA area. Some notable clubs would be CBGB's & The Continental in NYC, Gotham Citi Cafe & The Webster Theatre in CT, Diva's in MA.

PT: Your new EP is now out. Can you tell us a bit about the production of it?

NC47: All of the production was done by the band itself using Pro Tools, D doing most of the engineering. All live music was recorded at our studio.

PT: Have you recorded any previous CDs/Tapes?

NC47: K 23, Alpha Omega, Inferior, all self produced by certain members of the band.

PT: Who are your non-musical influences?

NC47: The Kogi Indians of Colombia, Alex Grey, Tibetan Buddhists, the Hopi Indians of Arizona. Kabuki, tribal culture, androgyny, quantum physics, hybridization of ideas across cultural and ideological lines, Guy Murchie, alchemy, the search for free energy and Nikola Tesla's ideas on it, meditation, and others.

PT: How do you promote your band and shows?

NC47: Fliers, MySpace invites, email invites, local press, posters, word of mouth, phone calls

PT: What advice would you give to fellow bands of your genre?

NC47: Don't listen to people who say what you do is strange or too eclectic. Continue to create music that makes every cell of your body and mind feel electric and alive. Then get that music out to everyone you know and don't know.

PT: What are some of your musical pet peeves?

NC47: Anything created for the sole purpose of generating fame and fortune... anything that just blatantly rips someone else off...unimaginative, formulaic music.

PT: How does music affect you and the world around you?

NC47: Music affects us on a physical, emotional, social, life directing and spiritual level. Music conveys ideas and the pure experience of music itself can create a higher state of vibratory stimulation. Music can call the world to a common goal; music can heal as well as create open paths of new communication. Music can direct the masses, the present and the future.

PT: What are your long-term career goals?

NC47: To be able to tour the globe while maintaining a living, learn and speak our learnings/observations, create more music.

PT: What are the biggest obstacles for bands in your genre?

NC47: There's a fundamental flaw in our modern culture's priorities. Artists and musicians can barely survive without selling all their time to make ends meet. This deprives them of time needed to stay on their path, to create and transform...MONEY-PROMOTION-SUPPORT!

PT: What's the best and worst thing about playing clubs?

NC47: We live to play live! To present our music nice & loud through a proper PA, to hang out with everyone who came out to come see us- we experience the trans-communicative relationship between live performance & live humans! The worst thing is not getting paid!

PT: What are your dreams and goals?

NC47: To live to see a unified consciousness on Earth among everyone; a respect, communication and equality of human, animal, plant, mineral and everything else that creates our existence. To see all humankind live in harmony with Earth and each other as directed by the spirit, by the truths of the 'Indians' and 'aborigines' that still live now and have not forgotten anything.

PT: Any final words?

NC47: Go to NC47.com for further visual, mental, and sonic stimulation and THANK YOU Jenn for the interest and the patience with us grasshoppers!
