ead American Radio, Left Alone's second album, has something to offer a variety of listeners. It is a unique album because it serves up rock, punk, a little country, ska and then some.

At the helm, Elvis Cortez produces this sophomore effort. He is the main songwriter, plays guitar and is the lead vocalist. His hard work is quite apparent, as this album flows smoothly and experiments with a number of styles and musical instruments.

The Sinner gives this album a strong and high-spirited start. City to City is especially entertaining, sounding a bit like The Clash and Green Day, with a contagious chorus. It's definitely a highlight on Dead American Radio. It tells the very common story of a band's life on the road.

Done Wrong is a ska, bluegrass apology song with a pedal steel guitar adding quite a nice touch. La Pregunta (The Question) is a fast-paced Spanish love song, a la Bradley Nowell from Sublime, but not as entertaining and lacking the usual charm and sentimentality of the Spanish duet format. Patricia Day of Horrorpops is Cortez's female counterpart on this song. Waiting for You has a sad country love song feel to it, including the suicidal and depressing sentiments. It's heartbreaking like a true country sob song, but musically more upbeat. Bastard Son is a two-minute punk gem.

Dead American Radio is solid, both lyrically and musically, and doesn't limit itself to one musical genre. That's what makes this album work so well. It's a combination of varying elements that work quite well together. Dead American Radio is proof that this band is entirely capable of musical growth and of establishing a good reputation in the music world. There's also no doubt that they give a kick-ass live performance too. Left Alone really delivers with Dead American Radio.
