'Male Sacred Prostitutes'
(Editor's note: The following is a letter sent to us. The letter remains as is, with no editing done to it.)
Dear Ms Razzano:
Please forgive my anonymity in writing to you, but from past experiences, I have found it best to state my dismay in such fashion at first.
I am writing to you out of dire concern regarding your writer Richard "R. A." Van Vleet and this bored passage that he seems to be frequently writing. My son picks up your magazine often and despite your name, for the most part I have approved of him reading it, but I don't think I can anymore.
In your March issue Mr Van Vleet appears and wrote several slanted things about my religion and our country. I was borderline offended with his comments especially him implying that my religion is a corporate control mechanism. Why must this be said? My faith is God's words and he is the one who controls us, is there a reason to make us look bad?
I let his comments pass, but then he comes out in your April issue and rips us apart. He seemed to be very bothered by our stand against homosexuals and made remarks comparing us to people as evil as Nazis.
Ms Razzano, I hope you understand that same sex relationships are not natural. They are the result of choices that people have made from Satan's temptation. People that live such a foul lifestyle are going against God's words:
1 Kings 14:24
21-24 Rehoboam son of Solomon was king in Judah. He was forty-one years old when he took the throne and was king for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city God selected from all the tribes of Israel for the worship of his Name. Rehoboam's mother was Naamah, an Ammonite. Judah was openly wicked before God, making him very angry. They set new records in sin, surpassing anything their ancestors had done. They built Asherah sex-and-religion shrines and set up sacred stones all over the place - on hills, under trees, wherever you looked. Worse, they had made male sacred prostitutes, polluting the country outrageously - all the stuff that God had gotten rid of when he brought Israel into the land.
There are other such lines in the Bible, but this one shows how wrongful it is and how it is Satan's way.
Mr. Van Vleet let out a string of obscenities to our Rev Falwell about raising the battle cry against homosexuality, but he is only looking out for the best interest of humanity. Yes, Rev Falwell was charging money for that campaign, but that money was being used to set up clinics to save the souls if those who have gone down the wrong road. Rev Haggard's episode has been used as a weapon against us, but no one mentions how Rev Haggard's soul has since been cleansed and he and his wife are once again together standing in the face of God.
Ms. Razzano, I have done much research on Mr Van Vleet and see a man who is a real perpetual toxin to society. Outside of him being interviewed in the Boston Globe and other publications for his work in music and raising awareness about his affliction he has written for the communist party during protests of the 1999 Republican Convention in Philadelphia. He has also through his musical productions staged events against one of the proudest Americans in the country Mr Sean Hannity.
Your magazine was somewhat innocent before the arrival of Mr Van Vleet, but now I can not allow my 14 year old boy read it knowing that it contains the very raunchy media that is destroying our country's moral fiber. The man even calls himself an apostate on that myspace.
I will be personally looking out for your magazine now and if Mr. Van Vleet persists in going against our faith, it is my duty to inform my community of his words.
Any publication that supports same sex relations and goes against the sanctitude of the American way is not something we support. Ms. Razzano, if Don Imus can be done away with, a supporter of homosexuals and all the evils of this country can be as well.
With love and kindness
A real friend of God
