Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend

By Jeremy Grand

Who gives a fuck about an Oxford Comma? Well, apparently not Vampire Weekend, the New York based up-and-coming indie biggies whose self-titled debut album is way more fun than grammatical arguments.

Despite what the name suggests, Vampire Weekend isn't a goth band. They have the energy and pep of any old hipster New York band, except, instead of arrogance there is intrigue, an array of sounds with classical strings, and, thankfully, non-whiny vocals that make you want to sing along with the easy-to-learn lyrics.

Every song is worth a listen, as they pretty much all have that same feeling of freedom, beauty and fun. It's a great summer soundtrack for your next weekend getaway. "Oxford Comma," "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" and the most danceable, "A-Punk," are just a few of the absolute standouts. But it is very, very hard to pick favorites when each one is like that guy at the party that everyone loves.

So don your madras shorts, put on your best Benneton colors, light up the beachside fire pit, throw out your garlic and crucifixes, and have a great time.
